Youth Leader Instructor Course: Babysitting + Stay Safe Canadian Red Cross:

1. Evaluate Skills and Check Prerequisites 

Must be 18 years or older, and have a valid certification from the Canadian Red Cross for the type of program you would like to instruct:

• Youth Leader Instructor requires current Standard First Aid and CPR C certificate

2. Fundamentals of Instruction for Youth Leaders (8 hours online)

Complete the Fundamentals of Instruction online component (8 hrs)

3. Teaching Experience (booked with a training partner)

This can be scheduled with any Canadian Red Cross training partner and must be completed within 6 months of completing the Instructor course. Successful evaluation by a teaching experience supervisor is required.

4. Certification (Valid for 3 years)

An electronic certification will be issued upon completion of your successful teaching experience. Certification is maintained for a period of 3 years. 

To re-certify your Youth Leader Instructor Certification it is a online course every 3 years, click here if you only require recertification of your First Aid Instructor status.
